Wenzhou Import Expo held successfully

       The first Zhejiang (Wenzhou) International Import Expo (Wenzhou Import Expo), was held on October 26 to 28, 2018, at Wenzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center, in the city of Wenzhou of the eastern coastal province Zhejiang. There were many officers and guests attending the opening ceremony, such as Chen Weijun, vice governor of Zhejiang Province and secretary of the CPC Wenzhou Municipal Committee, Yao Gaoyuan, mayor of Wenzhou, Hu Weikang, deputy director general of the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, Wang Chi, deputy mayor of Wenzhou, Ge Yiping, director of the Standing Committee of Wenzhou People's Congress, Yu Meisheng, chairman of Wenzhou Municipal CPPCC, Ying Xike, director of Wenzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau, Leonidas Rokanas, Greek Ambassador to China, Constantinescu, Romanian Ambassador to China, Ali Reza Irvash, consulate general of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Shanghai, Sabri Tunç Angili, consulate general of Turkey in Shanghai, John Huang, former assistant secretary of U.S. Department of Commerce and former vice chairman of Democratic National Committee's National Finance Committee, Zhang Li, vice president of China General Chamber of Commerce, honorary vice president of China National Light Industry Council, vice president of China National Garment Association, vice general manager of China National Machinery Industry International Co., Ltd. (SINOMACHINT), Yang Zuojun, president of Wenzhou Modern Group Co., Ltd. and other guests.

       With an exhibition area of 15,000 m² and a total of 550 booths, the expo featured 250 overseas exhibitors from 33 countries and regions, including Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Italy, Vietnam, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Myanmar, the Republic of Korea, Serbia, Poland and other European and African countries. It was the first time for these exhibitors to participate in a large-scale exhibition in Wenzhou. The expo went on for three days and received more than 100,000 visitors, which included more than 3000 professional buyer groups. The cumulative transaction amount at the expo was about 30 million yuan, and the intentional turnover was about 150 million yuan.


       The 1st Wenzhou Import Expo consisted of national pavilions and mainly three categories of imported exhibits: food, daily necessities and fashion products, covering every aspect of daily life. In order to promote visitors' experience, a series of activities were organized at the expo, such as multinational dance performances, the global stage, red wine party and beer carnival, to create a major exhibition that integrated interaction and entertainment for visitors. At the exhibition, the visitors have tasted food from all over the world, enjoyed red wine and beer from Europe, and watched singing and dancing performances emanating from Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia, Greece and other countries.


       Meanwhile, the first World Chinese Merchant (Wenzhou) Forum & Trade Match-making Meeting was held. Leaders of municipal governments, heads of Municipal departments concerned, officials from relevant national embassies and consulates in China, officials in charge of the county (urban districts) governments and business departments, representatives of business associations, Chinese Merchants, Wenzhou entrepreneurs and exhibition companies all attended the "face-to-face" and "zero distance" trade match-making, exchange and negotiation activities to promote more successful trade cooperation. In addition, contract signing ceremonies of five major projects were conducted at the meeting. In order to help strengthen international cooperation, representatives from the six major import platforms of Wenzhou's "one core and five points," as well as Iran, Greece, South Korea, Turkey and other countries, made keynote speeches and recommendations at the forum.

       The 1st Wenzhou Import Expo was hosted by the Commerce Department of Zhejiang Province and Wenzhou Municipal People's Government, organized by Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and specifically organized by CMEC International Exhibition Co., Ltd. (CMEC EXPO), a subsidiary of SINOMACHINT. The expo has built a trade match-making platform for local industrial clusters of Wenzhou and foreign exhibitors and enterprises. It has also provided strong support and new opportunities to further promote the construction of Wenzhou to become the “Import Commodity Distribution Center in Southern Zhejiang, Northern Fujian and Eastern Jiangxi,” and accelerate the buildup of the World (Wenzhou) Chinese Merchant Comprehensive Development Pilot Zone, and the international fashion smart city.
