       At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Ma Xiliang, member of the Xi’an Municipal Party Committee and Party Group of the Xi’an Municipal Government, Wassilios E. Fthenakis, Chairman of Didacta, the Education Trade Fair of Germany, German Denneborg, the director of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, the Ministry of Education and Research of Bavaria in Germany, Li Yaosheng, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education as well as the Université de Bretagne-Sud in France, and Manuel Krzyzosiak, President of INSIEME. Those mentioned above also witnessed the signing of the cooperation agreement between Xi’an University and Fachhochschule Dortmund, Xi’an Peihua University and Siemens (China) Co., Ltd., the Xi’an Railway Vocational and Technical Institute and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., and the Xi’an Vocational and Technical College and Malaysia International Cultural Communication Center. Zhao Lizhi, General Manager of Sinomachint and Cheng Yongshun, Deputy General Manager of Sinomachint, attended the opening ceremony of the conference and toured the museum.

 

       The exhibition covered an area of 12,000 square meters, with participation from enterprises and guests from more than 10 countries and regions, including China, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia and Australia. Among them, more than 40 international exhibitors were included, in addition to more than 120 domestic exhibitors and more than 50 participating institutions. During the same period, the exhibition held three international summits, three German experts and teachers’ training, 16 parallel forums, two simultaneous events and more than 20 activities series, attracting more than 6,000 professionals. At the same time, the BRICS Youth Maker Competition and the 13th National Exhibition Professional Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Competition were held, attracting thousands of participants. Education + 2019, themed with “integration of industry and education, collaborative education and application-oriented talent training for the future”, aimed to gather education experts and domestic and overseas business leaders in the field of vocational education in an effort to share the trends of development and practical experience in vocational education worldwide, as well as better cope with future challenges.
 

 

 

       Education + 2019 attracted a large number of influential exhibitors. In terms of international exhibitors, more than 10 well-known German educational institutions participated in the German national exhibition, jointly organized by the German Federal Ministry of Economy Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA). The French Embassy in China participated in the exhibition together with more than 10 French vocational colleges and educational institutions. In addition, FESTO, German Kearney group, Siemens, Heidehain, Ainstitutions, Ankrid China Dual System Education and Training Co., Ltd., Rein-Koster, SAP, Electude and Technische Universital Dortmund were active participants in the exhibition.

 

       Education + 2019 integrates the international summit, industry and education integration innovation forum, German expert training and a concurrent exhibition in an effort to share the best practice experience of international vocational education. The international summit gathered many domestic and foreign industry experts and elites in an effort to discuss cutting-edge and hot topics in terms of the quality development of vocational and higher education, as well as the cultivation of innovative talents in the era of economic globalization and digital technology, in addition to collaborative education in the era of artificial intelligence. Events held included those focused on international innovation, the production and education integration talent cultivation forum on intelligent manufacturing, the hug model teaching reform forum, the theme forum of exploration and achievements in high-quality Sino-German vocational education cooperation, the forum of collaborative education in the era of intelligence focused on key issues in various professional fields and others.

 

       In addition, Education + 2019, together with the Department of Education of the Shaanxi Xi’an Bureau of Education and Colleges and Universities, was jointly held, including the student skills competition with intelligent manufacturing at its core, which attracted the active participation of many domestic colleges and universities, as well as effectively enhanced the mutual learning and exchange of intelligent manufacturing technology among colleges and universities. The exhibition of Belt and Road educational achievements, organized by the Department of education of Shaanxi, showed that the vast number of participants from both within China and abroad fully appreciate the international development achievements of Xi’an vocational education in the process of reform and opening up in recent years, as well as the image of Xi’an as a “world tourism metropolis” and the strength of “hard science and technology capital”. Meanwhile, the “visiting the great Xi’an together” exploration event organized international guests and domestic and foreign exhibitors to jointly inspect the historical culture of Xi’an, in addition to scientific and technological innovation and innovation and entrepreneurship achievements, which attracted the wide attention of domestic and foreign guests and effectively improved Xi’an’s urban image and influence.
